"What is good and bad at St Andrew's Birmingham"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Birmingham / Edgbaston

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

It's the year 2019 and there are no mobile phones or internet on the wards as of yet. It is virtually impossible to get a one to one session with any member of staff. There is loads to do here most days. I try and get on with all patients and all staff. You get out what you put in. It is good to be in hospital in my home city. This hospital is very clean which is good. The café here has a good variety of staff. The café is not cheap unfortunately. This hospital is the best private hospital I've been too. I am making good progress. I hope to be discharged this year. I am feeling better as when I go on community leave I know the area. It is easy for my family and friends to visit me here. I just need to be discharged now.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your opinion. It is a shame that you feel that you are unable to get one to one sessions with staff as they are essential to the care and treatment of all patients in our care. I will raise this with the nurse managers and hopefully you will see an improvement in future.

Thank you for all of the positive points you make. We are very proud of providing a clean and homely environment and we try to create a sense of community that is welcoming to patients and their family and friends.

We are in the final stages of introducing personal mobile phones on all of the wards, and this should be available across site within the next month. As a charity we are trying to improve access to technology so watch this space in relation to better internet on site.

I wanted to update on this post, as we are now very pleased to allow access to mobile phones across the site. This has helped our patients stay in touch with family and friends.
