About: Broomfield Hospital / Accident and emergency

Last night a 72 year lady was sent in an ambulance by her GP, following blood test results.

She was subject to horrendous time when a nurse attempting to take blood 5 times and couldn't find a vain and was not very caring.

She then had to have an ECG, however the machine was not working, but she was told it was due to her not relaxing.

The machine was then changed and they managed to get a reading. Once all the tests were completed, the doctor told her she can leave and was asked if she had anyone that could pick her up.

Unfortunately, they was no family member local to pick her up at 2.30 am. The doctor then told her she will arrange a cab and walked out. After waiting for a while a nurse came in and said "you're still here" and when she was told about the cab, she said this is not something offer and called someone in charge. The person in charge said the same and made out this lady was lying. He then said they can pay for her to get a bus, but there will be no bus available until 5am.

She was then asked to sit outside in a waiting area, where she was on her own, until police brought in two men, who were drunk and left them there with her.

After while these two men started fighting and throwing stuff around, which could have easily hit her. One one the drunken men came and sat next to her, which made her vulnerable and scared. A lady joined the men and she started shouting and hitting one of them, security got involved but couldn't really control them.

This is the same hospital where this lady ,my mother-in-law had a stroke after an operation last year and no one took any responsibility.

I tried to call today and ask for name of the person who was in charge last night and told they can't give out this information, I then asked the lady to give her name and she said she can't and that she is only the receptionist.

I am disgusted how this hospital treated my mother-in-law and will put a formal complaint.
