"Difficult pregnancy and emergency c section"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Maternity

I cannot thank all the staff of emergency gynaecology, MAC, Willow and Cedar Wards as we saw them all! Every member of staff was fantastic. We had bleeds throughout pregnancy and thought we had lost our little lady we were reassured and helped for months early on with emergency gynaecology and then in MAC. Every Midwife we encountered was just brilliant, so kind, caring, put us at ease, and extremely knowledgeable. We were supported in our decision to go for a VBAC and our community midwife was a huge facilitator in this. I laboured beautifully and arrived in willow excited but baby went bradycardic so off we went to delivery ward then on to section after babies heart rate wouldn’t settle. The surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists were amazing. I was extremely anxious and they held my hand made eye contact and told me everything will be ok, they got my husband in the room as soon as possible, talked to me constantly, explained everything etc. I will forever be greatful. Next thing we know it our little girl arrives screaming into the world, and I’m transferred to cedar. Cedar midwives we’re amazing, so attentive, helping me in anyway they could, checking my vitals, updating the dr when they thought I needed a different care plan, so friendly, loving, caring, getting breastfeeding support from the infant feeding team and made an enormous effort to get us away the next day so I could see our toddler before bedtime. I would not hesitate to recommend the maternity unit at Basildon you are in the best of hands, we saw them all!!!
