"Disappointed and let down"

About: Hospital Of St Cross (Rugby)

What could be improved

It appeared that,on the Day Surgery unit at Rugby, everyone arriving at 7.30am to fill the unit on the day of their procedure, stressed out the only nurse left there to oversee the whole department.

It might well be a good idea to stagger the admissions so that everyone on the day surgery unit would be in place for 8.30am, or a time after the doctors rounds of inpatient care. When you are awaiting this sort of procedure, calm surroundings help, not hearing a member of staff barking out orders about when you are to get ready for theatre, and feeling that you can't ask any questions.

Also after recovery, it would have been better if someone had come to see me to explain what exactly had been found.

Anything else?

As well as the above, the discharge procedure for was not good. I came home with no idea of what exactly had been done, and 24 hours later I contracted an infection in my knee from my arthroscopy. My GP has given me the antibiotics that apparently I should have been given as a precaution against any infection.

This will now take 2-3 weeks to clear. Also the problem that the procedure was supposed to have corrected does not appear the have done anything at all to correct my knee.
