"Unhappy with this consultation"

About: Skegness & District General Hospital / Gastroenterology United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

(as a service user),

Very unhappy with this visit. The doctor appeared to disregard what I was saying regarding passing undigested food,  sometimes within half an hour of eating it. I told the doctor I had 4 readings on a liver function test which were out of range.

One of which being serum albumin.

Indication of possible malnutrition,  and sign of ulcerative colitis.  Both of these, the doctor said, were not true. Apparently it is not possible to be overweight and malnourished.  This sort of comment from someone who is supposed to know the field was worrying.

I just feel that because I disagreed with the doctor and stood up to them, they were very negative towards my condition.  I would not have been referred without goid reason afterall.

Update posted by baddoggy (a service user)

Being told by a gastric expert that it is not possible to be malnourished and overweight was more than unsatisfactory. Had he taken time to read my notes and the January blood test results, he would have seen that I had taken steps to lose weight and had by the time of my appointment lost over a stone in a month.

Thank you for your response. It is not very often I feel the need to air negative views, but in this case, a lack of knowledge and understanding of an individual had to be voiced.
