"Ultrasound + CT scan"

I was unavoidably 20 mins late for USS appt; the staff were so helpful and squeezed me in nevertheless.   Amazing, given how busy they were.   The USS consultant thought that a CT scan would also be useful (though I hadn't been booked for one); he took me straight to the CT suite and I was seen within 10 minutes.   Again, amazing given the pressures on the NHS generally and in diagnostics in particular. The staff in both depts were all cheerful, helpful and gave excellent information about procedures, side-effects, aftercare etc.     I work in the NHS in an administrative capacity so have some understanding of the pressures on staff especially as regards resources.   The vast majority of staff I have met and work with are enormously dedicated and caring people who are doing the best they can within huge limitations of budget and other resources; it saddens me that all to often their efforts are swamped by the bad stories so beloved by the media.
