"They helped ease my anxieties"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Endoscopy

(as a service user),

This was my second visit to the endoscopy suite, the first having not gone quite to plan. Despite this both visits I cannot commend the staff highly enough.

My latest visit, the nursing and medical staff not only looked after my physical health but addressed my mental health. I was particularly anxious about the procedures that I was having and the possible outcomes of the same.

All involved in my care took the time to explain both procedures clearly, even the parts that I may find and did find uncomfortable. The patient centred care delivered was something that I feel other areas could learn alot from. At no point were my feelings trivalised, I was treated with respect throughout. From nurse Charlotte at the beginning, then staff nurse Mark and then Kris who carried out the procedures. Unfortunately I cannot remember the other staff members names but all involved helped ease my anxieties and make the day more bearable. Thank you everyone

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear B123a12,

We aim for all patients' contact to be respectful and in a person centred way. It is very reassuring for us to hear, but it must help to reassure others awaiting an appointment too. We may not be able to measure this, but I am sure the benefits are far reaching, so thank you so much for taking time to share this on Care Opinion.

I am sorry you had a previous endoscopy that 'did not go to plan' and I fully appreciate this can add to your anxiety about a procedure that most of us would prefer to avoid (given the chance). Saying that, all credit to the team for making your experience so bearable. I will be delighted to share this with them, I am sure it will make their day.

All the best,

Eunice
