"Encouraged to leave hospital"

About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Pushed for infant to be seen at A&E due on going temperature and lack of eating and drinking. Once in A&E felt the nurses listened to me and was transferred to majors bay to be seen by a doctor. After several attempts to obtain a correct temperature on my child I was advised that there was no child's thermometers within the department or even within children's department. I find this unbelievable. Therefore her temp was incorrect. was offered a tempadot but she was unwilling to have this used upon her.

Then I was asked to push fluids on my child. Tried to the best of my ability but she was able to refuse this from me. I was then asked to take her home? I was unhappy with her current state and luckily I was keen for her to stay as later was found to be clinically dry and have dangerously low blood sugar. Felt that no member of the public regardless of their work place or knowledge of hospital should be told they are about to breach and made to feel they should possibly go home.
