"Southwell Ward at City"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

I would like to express my thanks to all the staff on Southwell Ward. My Dad was admitted towards the end of January after having spent 10 days in QMC and being home just 2 days before ending up back at A&E and transferred over to Morton for a night then Southwell.

It would be fantastic to name specific staff who stood out whilst he was there but I appreciate that we are not allowed but the HCAs did an amazing job as did the nurses and senior nurses. We had a difficult time and one evening nearly lost Dad but thankfully we didn't. One senior nurse stood out with her care and kindness towards both Dad and us as a family. To her and the others I will always be grateful.

The kitchen staff even tried all kinds of things to get dad's appetite up and running again going over and above what they needed to do. The consultants and physio were approachable and didn't mind us asking questions which was much appreciated.

The ward was clean and the cleaner always had a word with people which was nice.

Dad was deemed medically fit yesterday and sent off to rehab to regain his leg strenght to hopefully get him back home with mum. He says he misses some of his favourite HCAs already - I'm sure they know who they are! So once again thank you for the care, kindness and attention you gave Dad on his road from being very poorly to discharge to rehab.

Thank you for taking time to share your dad’s (and your) experience in our care. Your comments highlights that every member of Team NUH makes an important contribution to patient care. I’m pleased your dad is recovering and will soon be back home with your mum.

Although you can’t name individual staff on here, you can, if you wish to, get in touch with our Patient Experience Team to provide more details and we will ensure your positive feedback reaches the right individuals. You can call them on 0115 924 9924 x 66623 or email QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk.

Best wishes to you all,
