What I liked
I was working and staying in the Tarporley area when had to be rushed at 3.30am to A.E with acute abdominal pain. I was so scared and alone but staff were amazing. Difficult to diagnose but stabilised BP etc and transferred to SAU. Given goodbye hug from A/E nurse which meant a lot as no-one from home could be with me. Tests etc. then open appendecectomy - very sore! Amazing attention paid to pain-control. Very kind to my family who rushed up out of visiting hours, info re B & B etc. Don't think I have ever had so much information re condition/surgery and felt so involved.
Very busy unit - nurses constantly taken away from task in hand but maintained good care and communication. Also only had what I stood up in at first and nighties/toiletries were found for me. Very kind.
What could be improved
Toilets cleaned regularly but sadly the volume of patients is so high that as the day went on they deteriorated. Main problem, patients leaving liners with urine in, being asked to let staff know but staff obviously unable to remove imediately so patient unable to use e.g. 5 out of 6 loos as they had liners in them. Just volume of samples, busy staff etc - don't know the answer to that one. Perhaps an area within the bathroom where they could be left with a name rather than in the toilet?
Stayed during three day heatwave and smell was pretty atrocious!
Anything else?
I felt the food was hot, very appropriate portion size etc and a good choice offered. Given the amount of meals you provide on what , I'm sure, is a small budget, I was very impressed. Except for some choice of yoghurts.
