"Neuro-developmental Assessment process"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Child Psychiatry

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was referred to the Neurodevelopmental assessment process from the CAMHS service in June 18. The relevant forms were completed and returned and then we waited, and waited and waited. I made several enquiries to the CAMHS service and spoke to someone who confirmed they had received our forms, but still no date for the assessment. Finally, in October, a staff member from CAMHS chased things up for us and we were given a date in January for the assessment. We were then told that this date was cancelled and given another date in February. When my daughter arrived for this appointment there were no records for her and no note of this appointment. After a number of phone calls another date in a March was given to us. At no stage did we receive anything in writing and currently have no confidence that this appointment will ever take place. The impact this has had on my daughter has been significant and has undermined any support she has been receiving from CAMHS and left her confused and very isolated. I am left feeling very angry and confused about how on earth we move forward from here.

Dear Angry Parent2

I am very sorry that you have felt let down by the service. Unfortunately without knowing the name of your daughter it will be difficult to look into the detail of the referral.

If you would like to discuss your complaint further and get a more detailed response I would be happy to be contacted.

Please contact the Feedback Team on 01463 70 5997 or email them at nhshighland.feedback@nhs.net and they will pass on your details.

Best Wishes

Wendy
