"GPs are great but reception staff rude and..."

The medical staff and dispensary staff at this practice are great and I’ve always been treated with respect and dignity and care.

However the reception team is a different matter. Although some members of the team are polite, the main team members have terrible atttitudes and are often quite rude and obstructive. Reception members often give out the wrong information, refuse to pass urgent messages on the Doctor and refuse appointments with the duty doctor even when they are not qualified to do so.

It often feels like they forget that their role is to help people access healthcare not to make it more difficult and I have often come away from interactions with them feeling upset.

This practice is great overall but if at all possible I would recommend booking appointments online as much as possible to avoid having to talk to the reception staff.

Please contact the practice with specific examples so that we can ensure that reception staff are giving out correct information in the most appropriate way. Reception staff are asked and trained to ask questions regarding a patients' need for an appointment as often there are quicker alternatives that may be available to the patient. Whilst we don't want to be a barrier we do need to ensure that our appointments are used in the most effective way possible. We are sorry if your experiences have left you upset - it is why it is important that you contact us directly to find out what we could do better.
