"follow up appointment times"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics The South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre

(as the patient),

I had my hip replaced at Epsom centre in November 2018 and have nothing  but praise for the care I received there, but according to the booklet issued if I had not heard about a follow up replacement withing five weeks I should get in touch. This I did at six weeks to be told that since I was referred by Croydon University Hospital my review by the consultant would take place there and to get in touch with them.

This I attempted to do with no success at all, but after a fruitless morning on the phone I managed to get a recorded message asking me to leave my details and message and I would be contacted. Afraid not,not a word!

It is now twelve weeks since my operation and in desperation I wrote a letter and hand delivered it to the department when I was in the hospital last Saturday , but up to today again no word.

It is such a pity that an excellent experience has been spoiled by the link between CUH and patient. I know that my follow up appointment request was sent to CUH by SWLEOC the day after my operation so what has gone wrong?

I am very sorry you are having a very poor experience and not yet received a follow up appointment.

Thank you Hilary,

I was delighted to receive a telephone appointment yesterday for this afternoon!Do hope others waiting for a follow up will be cheered. Is it just CUH or are other hospitals having the same problem?
