About: Raigmore Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

I went to an ENT appointment in October last year, as soon as I sat down I got a lecture more or less telling me there was nothing wrong with me cause the ct scan I had a year ago showed nothing. I was to draw a line under it the ENT doc said. I did not make the referral myself it was my doctor who informed me he wanted a biopsy of my lymph nodes as their full! I felt I was wasting their time, and humiliated. so did not show them where I was finding the lump in my neck, I just wanted out of there. they did their examination, had ultrasound scan, letter to say no more needed. still having problems but will not be returning back to ENT.

I would like to thank you for informing us of your experience whilst attending your appointment with the ENT service at NHS Highland.

I am sincerely sorry that this has given you cause to raise this matter via this post. Patients should always feel comfortable in raising any concerns with their doctor.

I am sorry that you felt unable to raise the issue of the lump in your neck during your appointment. I would be happy to review this further on your behalf. You can then discuss this with them.

If however you do not wish to raise this matter via this avenue then I would encourage you to make an appointment with your GP in order to review your current medical concerns so that these can be monitored.
