"Emergency department and observation ward"

About: Royal United Hospital

My partner was taken into bath RUH in an ambulance after a potentially fatal incident. During his time in the emergency department, he was treated with care, urgency and absolutely zero judgement.

After having his bloods taken (promptly) he was taken into a private room on the obvservation ward where he was put on a drip. He was monitored regularly.

There are not enough words to explain my gratitude to the doctors and nurses who saw to my partner. He expressed his discomfort and they did all they could to accommodate. They also were straight to the point and honest regarding his reason for being there. A harsh reality check that was very mich needed.

Not only did they tend to my partner, they often checked to see if I was ok, comfortable or needed anything. I was in the hospital with him for 27 hours in total, in which time we saw nurses come and go. There were two nurses in particular that stood out to both of us, for their patience and kindness.

The emergency department were rushed off their feet the whole time, but still had smiles on their faces.

I couldn’t even imagine doing their job and admire them hugely.

Thank you to everyone who works in the RUH. Your work is very much appreciated.

We thank you for your comments about your recent care at the RUH and will forward these on to the Emergency Department team who, we are sure, will be very grateful for your kind words.
