"Neutropenic Sepsis"

About: St Helier Hospital / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

In summer 2018 (after I had just completed Consolidation Chemotherapy Cycle 4) I started to feel very ill with a very High Temperature, Sweating and Cough.. I Phoned The Royal Marsden Hospital who I am under for T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, who said I needed urgent Hospital care. So due to being very Poorly I rang an Ambulance.

Ambulance staff arrived swiftly and could see I wasn’t well, I was given a Nebuliser then Oxygen to stabilise my Breathing and Blue Lighted to St Helier Hospital where I was taken into Resus.

Staff in Resus were brilliant, swift action again and confirmed I was in Neutropenic Sepsis.

I was admitted to Ward B1 - Heamotology Ward! And was given IV Antibiotics, IV Antifungals also Platelets were needed.

However I had continued to Spike Temperatures and they were concerned my PICC Line May be infected so I was taken to The Royal Marsden to have my PICC Line removed.

After 2 weeks in St Helier Hospital I was well enough to be Discharged

Thank you to the amazing staff on Ward B1 for the Care.
