"No ENT Doctors"

About: St Helier Hospital / Accident and emergency St Helier Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I attended St Helier Hospital A&E one Friday morning roughly 9am. Was seen by Triage Nurse within minutes of arriving who took down details of what was wrong, Medical History (I have TCell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia) and did OBs. They quickly took me round to the Majors Department, which was very quiet, due to me being a bit Tachycardic (Fast Heart Rate!) and wanted me to be seen urgently. I was placed in a bay where I sat in a chair.

TWO HOURS later (If that’s what Urgent is I’d hate to see someone who's been rushed into Hospital!) a Doctor who really didn’t look at all interested came in and saw me. They took a brief description of what was wrong, listened to my Chest (Once!) and walked off.. A while later they came back and said “We have no ENT Doctors here so you’ll have to go to St George’s Hospital”

Now WHY was I waiting 2 Hours to be told there was no ENT Doctors? Why didn’t the Triage Nurse or Reception staff tell me this??
