"Excellent support from the Pre-Assessment team"

My father attended day surgery on Tuesday 12th February 2019 and he was very well cared for by the day surgery team. However I would like to specifically thank the pre-assessment team. One of the sister nurses from the team conducted the pre-assessment before the surgery, and there were a couple of causes for concern that meant my father was borderline for surgery. The easiest answer would have been to postpone the surgery leaving my father with continued discomfort for a longer period. After a thorough review, the sister nurse decided to persevere with further research, working closely with myself and the local GP to establish the most up to date position on the outstanding concerns. She went beyond the call of duty to stay in touch after the original pre-assessment ensuring we were able to provide the necessary assurances to the anaethestist who was subsequently satisfied to proceed. The sister nurse didn’t have to do this as she could have very easily postponed the operation - but she was very committed to making sure my father had the best possible course of action. Your pre-assessment team are a real credit to the hospital, and we are extremely grateful for their dedication and support.
