"Referred 2 and a half years ago"

About: Ayrshire & Arran Community Services / Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

(as a parent/guardian),

I feel let down by this service. My child was referred 2 and a half years ago. Had an initial appointment and questionnaire. And then just sat on a waiting list. I call every so often to be told he's still on a waiting list. Surely there should be nhs targets the same as any other nhs service?  The secretary was very understanding at my frustration.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Concerned123,

I have been asked to post this on behalf of Tommy Stevenson, Senior Manager (CAMHS/CEDS)

"I am sorry to hear about your experience with CAMHs. These specialist services do have a considerable demand and unfortunately, there are considerable waits for some for example - neuro developmental assessments including ADHD. Diagnostic tests can be helpful, but they are not the only option for support. To help us understand what is happening with your referral, can you please contact me, on 01294 317841

Kind regards,

Tommy"

Tommy Stevenson

Senior Manager (CAMHS/CEDS)
