I was admitted last year with what i thought was one problem, it soon turned out to be more severe problem and i soon ended up being sent to Medical high dependency.
This was a scary time for me especially when i didnt realise how unwell i really was. Fortunately the nurses Leanne, Jillian and Kirsten put my mind at ease. They made so much time for me and treated me as their number 1 priority which felt so reassuring. They listened to my story over and over but also they made time for me as a human being and not just a patient. They chatted about every day things to take my mind of what was going on. They made my son and daughter (who have both got disabilities) feel at ease as well which was great. They spoke to them in a way they could understand and showed them what the machines around me were so they were less scared. They treated me with dignity and didnt make me feel embarrassed when helping me do things.
I dont feel nurses get the recognition they deserve so i felt i needed to say how grateful i am for their care. Im sure all of the nurses in the high dependency are just as good as these 3 nurses. I will never forget them. My son and daughter are truly grateful they looked after their mum so well.
"So many lovely staff members in a small ward."
