"Thank you"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

I would like to thank Physios for arranging for Physio/OT input for my mother who is awaiting knee replacement.

After being discharged from A&E we were told a team would phone & visit the following day to assess for physio and any aids required to maintain safety prior to surgery however this did not happen and as a family we have been trying to get this implemented with no success until the physios became involved. I am happy to say this has now eventually weeks later been resolved and now have input from the community team.

Dear Hairmyers,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your mother's physiotherapy and occupational therapy follow up following a previous attendance at A & E. I am disappointed to hear that you experienced a delay in accessing appropriate therapy, equipment and supports from the community team, and would be happy to look into this further if you would like to call me on 01698 366435 to discuss.

I hope that your mother is benefiting from the current input from the community team, and that she gains further benefits from her planned knee replacement surgery.

Kindest regards

Janice

Update posted by Hairmyres (a staff member posting for a carer/relative)

Thank you for your reply. I am a bit disappointed that the names of the physio’s I mentioned were deleted from my review as that was the point of me posting on care opinion to praise the relevant members of staff

Hi there Hairmyres,

I am sorry we've disappointed you.

We're glad the physios were a great help. You do mention that not everything went to plan, which Janice has picked up on and hopefully you'll consider giving her a bell about that.

Our policy is to remove staff names from stories which have a negative element to them, however slight that may be. We've learned that it helps to protect everyone. I will, however, take this to our next moderators meeting (next Thursday) and chat about whether we should do something different.

Really appreciate your contact and hope your mum's surgery and care goes well.

Kind regards

Gina
