I recently took an allergic reaction to medication I was started on for my recently diagnosed Crohn’s Disease. I had a really bad flare up and my GP called the IBD nurse and I got an appointment to go and discuss what medication I would get next to control the Crohn’s long term.
I had my appointment yesterday with the IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist Fiona who I was so glad to have met. She spoke to me and explained everything to me regarding which medication was the next step and also took the time to explain things about Crohn’s which haven’t been explained to me before including the findings of my colonoscopy from October 2018, i feel more hopeful about the condition and I feel like I will be in good hands in the event of any future flare ups as I wasn’t told about the clinic Fiona has at Inverclyde Royal until about 3 weeks ago and have dealt with very painful symptoms at home on and off for months now and didn’t ever know where to turn as GP’s only know so much and can’t offer a lot of help or advice. I have had a lot of dealings with nurses at a few different hospitals with my partner having serious health issues and Fiona is one of the best I’ve came across, I felt at ease with her and I have anxiety and don’t like talking to people i haven’t met or don’t know so that says alot, in my opinion she is a great nurse and a credit to the NHS, I wish all NHS staff where as willing to take time to explain things to patients and have a genuinely caring nature like her.
