My son has been having palpitations for some time and his GP sent him to be checked out at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh at the receiving unit last week. My son has been pretty stressed about the palpitations and has been struggling to cope with how they make him feel. The nurse spoke to him in a reassuring manner when she was doing all his vital signs. She was thorough, professional and took venous blood with such confidence and ease my son was suitably impressed. The unit was really busy and staff were obviously stretched. It upsets me that I have to mention the trolley that was used to obtain my son's blood was splattered with someone else's blood which was a huge shame. A quick wipe would remedy this so I hope this feedback is met with a positive response as this is the only thing that was below a level that I would consider acceptable. Once all my sons results were back, a doctor explained everything to us whilst listening to my sons concerns about the palpitations. A huge thank you to everyone in the ARU you did a great job under obvious pressure, for my family.
