"My A&E and Heydon(Neuro)ward treatment. (16th..."

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

.After sustaining a head injury, (courtesy of a hotel bathroom door) I attended N&NUniHosp.

A&E Department and they steristripped and superglued my head back together! I had a CT

head scan, which revealed a small subdural haematoma(a trickle brain bleed) I was then

transferred to Heydon(Neuro)Ward for observation. Throughout the day, I was given numerous tests and after lengthy dicussions and because the medical staff were satisfied that I fully understood the implications and possible side effects of the injury, they agreed to discharge me the same evening. The main factor for this was because I was accompanied by my good friend Deborah(God blesss her!) and we were catching the coach back to Doncaster the following morning. I was also given instructions to return to this or the nearest hospital should any of the 'red flag' symptoms occur.

I am very pleased to say that we returned to the hotel, had an evening meal, returned home the next day, without any side effects manifesting themselves!

A week later, I had another CT head scan at my local hospital and as this proved normal, I was discharged by the Acute Medical Consultant. I have not suffered from any of the possible side effects to date.

I wish to record my enormous gratitude and admiration for those who looked after me in the A&E department and the on the Heydon ward; there are too many Brickbats thrown at the NHS and not enough Bouquets!

Dear Patient

Thank you for your kind comments about your recent emergency inpatient admission. I pleased to read that staff were kind, caring and professional. I will share this with the staff involved, as well as senior staff in the hospital. Thank you for taking the time to write, and I am pleased to read you have now been discharged from acute medical care.

With best wishes

Sarah
