My mum was admitted to the BGH over a week ago, she is elderly but should that matter, absolutely not.
Mum has only been out of hospital 3 weeks previous admittance was in December for 2 days, we knew she was really no better when they said mum was ready to get home, my Dad repeatedly asked the doctor what was causing mum to be so unwell, the doctors reply to a mid seventy year old man was I don't know with a shrug of the shoulders (Ward 6). We understand mum has numerous medical conditions but this was a very difficult time.
Mum is disabled due to having 2 strokes, the alarm on the side of her bed was broken, she needed a commode to go to the toilet on a regular basis, she reported the faulty buzzer to staff nurse she was told just shout! We made a point of being there for meal times as she struggles to feed herself due to having a tremor, would there been staff available to feed her, I'm certain not. This is simply not acceptable.
Most recent stay in hospital again the BGH after a challenging discussion with a doctor and making them aware of the previous stay above the doctor was absolutely fantastic and a credit to the BGH no stone has been left unturned, and the level of care mum required has been recognised. Ward 6 Nursing Axillaries (Cameron & Allan) Gents thank you for the care you have given my mum. I don't know how you manage to keep up, you never stop, the level of care you give is exceptional.
