My mother was admitted to Rydon Ward 1 following a mental breakdown. Her Dr was amazing throughout her admission, and they really cared about their patients. They were respectful of the student nurse and involved them in everything which was a brilliant learning experience for them.
The Dr not only cared and supported my mother, but also her family. They were worried about me who was mums caregiver at the time, who she relied massively on and arranged an assessment for me to talk to a nurse about my feelings and how I was coping and things that could be put into place to help my younger brother, this nurse was very lovely and was very competent.
The only negative feedback I have to give is the fact the nurses and support workers lock themselves away in their office, away from the patients and do not interact with them. When the crisis team came to review my mum to section her, they told us there would be nurses to talk to about any worries and concerns 24/7, however the majority of the nurses and support workers were unapproachable and would avoid eye contact/interaction with patients and relatives, and the atmosphere wasn't very great. But I cannot fault the Dr, the student nurse and the nurse I saw.
