"Feedback on my experience of treatment"

About: Hollybush House

(as a service user),

Feedback for Combat stress on my experience of treatment

•I found the treatment residential part helpful

•Transition to community was challenging for me

•Community outreach was lacking; I received only one phone call following residential therapy after a 1 year wait time.

•Delay in conveying decision to not offer further Psychology services at Hollybush

•Community outreach was offered after a delay (lack of community outreach between August and October, my first contact with community outreach was early November 2018 with CPN and OT)

•I was offered Community Outreach when I was really wanting further Hollybush Psychotherapy

•I wanted to be present for the team meeting (complex case) this was not known to be an option

•The outcome of refusal to offer further Residential Psychotherapy via Hollybush felt like a stone wall decision and the subsequent feeling of rejection has impacted my mood and self-worth.

•The explanation for refusing further residential treatment does not make sense to me.

•I would like an opportunity to discuss with the team at Hollybush the rationale for refusing further residential psychotherapy and to have my questions answered.

•I believe that I was not able to fully process everything related to my trauma within the time spans of therapy offered via Combat Stress and I feel there should be more flexibility with aftercare and further residential therapy be an option if the treatment is not effective first time around.

•I question whether the team decision was heavily influenced by funding restrictions or whether the team believe I cannot benefit from further psychotherapy? If the latter be the case, then how else do people with PTSD seek help if they do not fit in the box of 6-week programs?

•If Combat stress considers me as being able to benefit from Psychotherapy elsewhere then is their decision purely down to budget?

•Combat stress claims to keep the door open to veterans for mental health support but I feel they have rejected me now

We have received a complaint from a veteran as above, which we are currently investigating in line with the Combat Stress Complaints policy. We are liaising directly with this veteran during this process.
