After the my operation all was well until 6 days later in the evening I noticed a floater in the right eye. I phoned Probus early next morning and was told to go to Probus clinic at 11am. I saw the doctor who seemed very concerned when he examined my eye. He contacted Treliske hospital and I was told to go to the emergency eye clinic.
I was examined thoroughly and was then told that they would operate and I may lose my eye and sight.
The team were all so caring and kind and I went to the operating theatre. I had a long operation with key hole surgery, the consultant and the doctor monitoring me were excellent the an held my hand throughout.
After the operation the consultant explained that he did all he could to save my eye as it was detached from the retina. He used laser treatment to try to connect it.
He said that I will probably lose the eye but we will wait to see over time.
I was then sent to the recovery ward where a lovely nurse looked after me when I could not stop crying. Then my husband was allowed to see me. After a while we were given lots of medication and I was told that I will have an appointment every day until further notice. I saw so many doctors, nurses and other staff during this time and every person was excellent in every way, they were so caring, professional and they all made me feel better each day, Nothing was too much for them that includes the reception and pharmacy staff as well.
The consultant is pleased with my progress and if I carry on like I am by April I should keep my eye. This is thanks to everyone involved in my care.
