About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency Borders General Practices

(as the patient),

My husband called the NHS help line at 2.00 in the morning, they directed us to the BGH, on our arrival the Dr was waiting with my notes from the NHS helpline. My second visit to A&E was on a Sunday morning, was dealt with efficiently and promptly.

I have had two xrays taken and have had the results telephoned to me after three days from our Kelso Surgery. The Staff have been friendly and efficient on all occasions. I am having a dressing changed every week at the Kelso Surgery, the Nurse is friendly and efficient.

Hi Jane,

I work with the Emergency Department team who I am sure will be delighted to hear this feedback. The team work hard to deliver an efficient, friendly and high quality service, often in challenging circumstances. I'm glad that both visits showed this.

Hope you are well on the road to recovery.

Best wishes,

Gareth

Update posted by Jane78 (the patient)

Hi Gareth, unfortunately we get so much negative news re a and e, also the X-ray departments, so I was pleased to be able to share this. The one thing I have thought about since writing this, is that I would not have known about careopionion until someone told me about it. So perhaps someone could spread the word somehow. I realise the last thing a patient needs , is a piece of paper being given out, when all you want to do is get away as quickly as possible!! Yes I am making progress thank you.

Hi Jane78,

Thanks so much for taking the time to post on Care Opinion! As Gareth has said, it makes such a difference to be able to feedback to our staff on positive stories but in addition (as is the case here) patients and relatives often have great ideas on how we can improve our processes and services! I think the idea of highlighting the Care Opinion service within the ED is an excellent one and I will plan to make a change in response to your suggestion! Leave it with me and I will come back to you with details around the changes we make! Many thanks again!

Lynn

Hi Jane

Glad you took the time to share. We do proactively advertise Care Opinion and are one of the Scottish Health Boards that have the highest number of stories. We are simply massive Care Opinion fans. My colleague Dr Lynn McCallum is picking up the discussion with our Emergency Department colleagues to see how we can increase awareness in the department.

Best wishes,

Gareth
