I would like to thank Out of hours service in Hamilton for their excellent service provided last night for my mum. She required nebulised, oxygen & had a uti. Linda & Dr Hawthorn were very attentive and courteous in delivering mums care as we awaited an ambulance.
Unfortunately If a similar level of care had been provided in Wishaw general Ambulatory Care Ward two nights prior to this, (when she was admitted via gp referral with a uti where they refused to treat her and sent her home as the Doctor said she was asymptotic due to crp in bloods levels not being elevated!!!) We wouldn’t have had to take up 5 hours of the services time on a Saturday which then resulted in my mother being admitted to Wishaw General for treatment for a uti anyway. This concerns me as mum has no mental capacity to describe symptoms of uti due to her vascular dementia. We were also not allowed to be present in Wishaw for her assessment so had no idea what they asked her regarding symptoms in Ambulatory Care Ward. However she is currently in Emergency Care Unit Wishaw receiving the correct treatment.
