On my first assessment with a CPN, I was told I sounded like a character from a tv series about a serial killer - this upset and confused me, I still at this point was not aware I had a Borderline Personality Disorder.
I attended a psychiatrist every 6 months so had two meetings and was prescribed medication which after a few days was causing excruciating IBS flare ups. I asked to get an appointment to get this changed as my GP explained that it had to be the same specific psychiatrist...at this point I still had not been informed what was wrong with me.
Eventually on 3rd meeting my psychiatrist changed my dosage as due to the zombie state I was in I was struggling at work, my IBS was completely unmanageable and I wasnt sleeping and my mood was becoming more and more aggressive.I attended my own GP about managing my IBS and it was then I was told I had borderline Personality Disorder, that was a shock as I had never heard of this before.
On the advice of my Mum I called the out of hours CPN and got someone...I tried to explain that my head was telling me to hurt my mum, i couldnt stop the rage in my head, I was crying and I needed help before I hurt myself or my Mum.
At that point this staff member told me I was an angry person and it had nothing to do with my BPD and essentially i should be able to control my temper.
At that point I lost control as I needed help, i made threats to hurt this person and my psychiatrist and disconnected the call.
About 20 minutes later there was 4 police officers at my door. My mum explained the situation and one of them said that the NHS mental health teams are essentially passing the buck to them and creating criminal offences out of mental health crisis's.
4 weeks later i received a letter to tell me I was struck off.
So in reading more about BPD I found an NHS factsheet that was sent to me via Riverside giving a breakdown of BPD and its symptoms
"The inability to control rage"
"intense feelings of anger"
so it feels to me like the Riverside is using there own information against themselves??
The whole system in Glasgow seems a mess to me, unless you can afford private health care this is it - have tried to tap into other services such as SAMH and GAMH but the alas need a referral from Riverside. I have also been waiting almost 6 months now for counselling with the Tom Allen centre, again unless I can go private I have to wait
Since dealing with Riverside I feel suicidal - I have no where to turn.
