"Night Staff on Phoenix Ward"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Vascular surgery

(as a relative),

Last night Phoenix Ward was a complete shambles. My husband being left on the commode for 3 hours and then expecting him to get back into bed himself, saying that he could do it himself as he had the remote for the bed.  Other patients were calling for nurses and being ignored, It felt like all the nurses wanted to do was have a laugh.  Other patients experienced the same.

I have complained to the Ward Manager but am concerned that this will happen again.  I think someone senior needs to keep an eye on the agency staff and make sure they wear their name badges as none of the staff did so we were unable to report which nurse/s it was.

Thank you for your feedback. We take this very seriously and it has been escalated to the Deputy Director of Nursing for Surgery.

We note that you have provided feedback a number of times about your husband's poor experience and we would be keen to understand more about the problems both or you have faced.

Please do contact our PALS Team on 01634 825004 or medwayft.pals@nhs.net and they will be happy to share your contact details with us.

Kindest regards,
The Patient Experience Team
