My 7 year old daughter was seen by a doctor as an outpatient at FVRH last month. On arrival it seemed as if all the nursing staff were desperate to get home. They were unfriendly & never addressed my daughter. On entering the consultation, the doctor never acknowledged my daughter or spoke to her by name. They were very dismissive of anything I advised of her condition. The doctor put a late head torch on & cane towards her with no prior warning or explanation. She was frightened so I then explained to her what was going to happen. The nurse was silent most of the consultation & when I was struggling to understand what the consultant was saying reluctantly helped. We left upset, disappointed & my daughter said she didn't want to go back there.
We were given an open 4 month appointment to call ENT the next time my daughter had symptoms. I had to ask the nurse what this entailed, who explained we'd bypass the GP & come to ENT asap to be seen. When this did happen I was offered an appointment 3 weeks later. We've had to pay for a private consultation which is a disgrace for a child. I feel I will be making an official complaint in due course.
"Very disappointing service at ENT appointment"
