About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

This has now happened twice and I am very annoyed and wanted to share my story.

I have booked appointments to see the opthalmology clinic at Musgrove Park Hospital through the choose and book system. I am then given a date of my choice (several months in advance).

I then receive a letter but instead of confirming the appointment it says that "due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel your appointment...we will send you another date."

What is the point of sending patients the 'choice' of venues (with approximate waiting times) when the system is working so erratically?

How on earth can the system 'know' the date one day and then have to cancel this date (which is several months in advance!) due to 'unforeseen circumstances' by the following day's post! I would be grateful to know what these 'unforeseen circumstances' could possibly be.

Dear aburnhampatient, this does sound very frustrating and not a good start to your experience of care with us. We would like to look into what happened to see if we can rectify this. Would you mind sending an email: appointments@tst.nhs.uk and mark for the email attention of Alex Pryde include within the email your details I.e name and hospital number.

Alex is a Clinical Services Manager at Musgrove and is keen to see what has happened for you and possibly others too.
