About: Purley War Memorial Hospital

Went to what I thought was minor injuries unit. Asked at reception and was told it was minor injuries unit. Daughter Was seen by nurse practitioner due to pain in her foot. Was told to go to own GP during the week to assess if it needs an X-ray as they can’t do them, she said they are no longer a minor injuries unit. When I questioned why I was t told this when I asked at reception she said receptionist is new. What a waste of 2 hours. Leaving my daughter in tears, still in pain and none the wiser as to the cause. Won’t be going there again

I am sorry to hear that your visit to Purley Hospital did not meet with your expectations. The GP Hub at Purley is run by AT Medics and I have raised your concerns with the management of the site and have suggested signage in reception.

Although the Purley Hospital website gives information regarding the X-Ray services available, it may not be clear that for X-Ray DEXA (bone density) and ultrasound (diagnostic services) that you need a referral to use these services. The hospital also offers digital X-Ray, DEXA (bone density) and ultrasound scans and can be used as an alternative to travelling to Croydon University Hospital. You will be given an appointment by your healthcare professional to use these services. A walk-in X-Ray service is not available.

Cuts, scratches and bruises / Sprains & Strains / Bites / Minor burns / Minor eye injuries / Minor head injuries (without having passed out) / Minor injuries to limbs, body and face / First aid / Minor illnesses (including infections)

Appointments are available 8am-8pm, bookable through phoning 111. You can also go to the GP Hubs with an urgent medical problem without an appointment but you may have to wait. Locations of the GP Hubs are below. Hubs are open seven days a week, including bank holidays.
