"My Dads experience"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My Dad lives in sheltered housing accommodation and this story begins today when he had a fall in his flat which resulted in a deep cut to his arm. This triggered a visit from SAS staff who decided my Dad needed seen at the Emergency Department. Although I didn't witness their care my Dad said they were 'first class'! I met my Dad at the hospital and from the minute he entered the hospital each member of staff were so caring and treated my Dad with dignity and respect. He received a thorough examination, observations were taken, heart tracing and wound care, but most of all he received care and kindness. He is now home after his experience for which we are all extremely grateful. I am so proud of our wonderful service - thank you to Nurse Gill, Dr James, Dr Chris and the HCSW and student nurses!

Dear AliW,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely feedback on CareOpinion. It sounds like your father had quite a distressing time and I am very sorry to read that he had need to use the services of the Scottish Ambulance Service and our partners in NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

I am however very glad that your father was left with such a positive impression of our crews describing them as first class. I would really like to trace the crew and make sure their manager are aware of what a good job they have done. May I ask, if you want, that you email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net and provide me with the address, date and time that the vehicle arrived to tend to your father and also your fathers name. This will allow me to locate the job and the crew.

I wish you and your father all the very best, I hope he is on the road to a full recovery and that you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Kind Regards

Alan

Hello AliW,

many thanks for your kind words in relation to the care delivered by one of my crews when they responded to your father when he suffered an unfortunate accident. May I wish your father a speedy and full recovery from his injury.

It is always nice to hear such a positive report in relation to the treatment given by our crews as all too often, we do not get feedback from patients or relatives regarding their progress following our intervention and contribution to their emergency care.

To this end, as Alan has requested, some further detail would be helpful to allow me to identify the crew and pass on your comments to them.

Regards

Kenny
