What I liked
It was looking very likely that I would have to have a c-section which I really didn't want and I was impressed and so grateful at how hard staff worked to enable me to have the natural birth I was so keen on.
What could be improved
I don't think staff were as proactive about breastfeeding as they could have been and I was surprised to be offered formula to 'top up' baby until my milk came in. I wish someone had paid closer attention to the first few feeds my son had as it wasn't until we got home that I realised he wasn't latching on properly. I feel that if this had been addressed immediately I might not be having the problems I am having now.
Anything else?
Despite the lack of attention towards breastfeeding, I think the staff at Queen Charlotte's are absolutely brilliant, I felt very well looked after and was very involved in decisions regarding the labour of our son. I cannot recommend this hospital enough.
"Staff made the birth of our son the most amazing..."
