I was referred to the Level C outpatients for a Pre-operation review by the Urology department prior to having an appointment made for a operation to deal with Bladder Cancer.. Whilst undergoing diagnosis and examination in that department I was treated efficiently and professionally by all staff. However I did not enjoy the same level of experience in the level C outpatients department when I had my Pre-op assessment. In the letter giving me the Pre-op appointment it is stated that at that appointment I would be able to have any questions that I have about the up coming procedure answered. This proved not to be the case as the nurse that a saw on the Morning of 29th November said she was unable to answer any of my list of 9 questions and any questions would have to be addressed to the staff on the day of my operation.I consider this to be most unsatisfactory and feel that a consultant should have been available to answer all of my questions. I have also been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and the Nurse was unable to give me any information as to when I would be having a operation to deal with that.
