"A&E attendance"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I attended A&E with a head injury (and loss of consciousness) and shoulder injury (with instability) at 2.30 and left at about 7pm

I am a doctor. So know a bit of what to expect.

My main observations are

1. that while everyone I met was pleasant, not one person introduced themselves by name (are they aware of #hellomynameis?)

2. Although I was knocked unconscious and had some transient confusion I didn't have a CT brain scan

3. Although my shoulder was X-rayed nobody examined it. (it feels unstable and is still very painful on abduction with rotation)

I was too tired, sore (and concussed) to raise my concerns/ give feedback at the time

Dear Patient

I write further to your comments and feedback following your recent attendance in A&E. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will share this with senior staff in the department to look at improvements to the patient experience. If PALS can assist in any way, please contact me at pals@nnuh.nhs.uk.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

With kind regards
