"my experience from initial consultation to surgery"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital / Colorectal surgery Eastbourne District General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

From the first visit with the consultant to the MRI Scan to the rather unpleasant endoscomy and finally to the day of surgery I cannot thank all the doctors nurses porters consultants and the comedy anaesthetic  bloke Phil or should I call him Philip yes. You were all amazing and made my stay enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble except when after the operation when I came round you asked if I would like a drink of water. When I replied yes please with a treble whisky in it it fell unsurprisingly on deaf ears. To sum up in a nutshell nobody wants an op on their bottom anal gland  but you all made it a stress free procedure. Thank you all and watch out for me on Britains got talent 2019. Very kind regards to you all, and I would like to report I am pain free and pooing normally for the first time in ages. Too much information I know lol but I thought Philip would like me to share this with him.........

Very kind regards to you all

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such positive feedback on the Care Opinion website in respect of your recent episode of care and treatment at Eastbourne District General Hospital; it is very much appreciated. First and foremost, we are delighted to read that the surgery you underwent has been successful, and that your bodily functions are finally back to normal (sorry we couldn’t provide that much wanted treble whiskey when you were in the Recovery Room!); we sincerely hope you have made, or are continuing to make, a good recovery in the comfort of your own home from a particularly sensitive procedure.

The Trust works hard to provide a responsive and high standard of care to all patients, and so we are very pleased this was your experience; furthermore, it is reassuring for us to read that the staff you encountered delivered our values in treatment of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect, and even good humour too from your Anaesthetist! It is these values that patients often find of great help and support in difficult, anxious or worrying times.

We will share your feedback with the teams who provided your care and treatment, as they will no doubt appreciate the kindness of your comments, and how much you valued their input. We wish you good health and well-being now and in the future.

Thank you for your kind words. In these times people are always moaning about every little thing and being mostly negative. My experience at EBDGH was purely positive and I cant thank the staff enough for my treatment.
