I write to say how the Positive Steps program has helped my daughter since her discharge from the Royal Edinburgh Hospital last month. She was an inpatient there for over three months
The visits ( thrice weekly) and telephone contacts daily when not visiting her, have gently helped her re-enter life in the outside world. The visits have given her confidence to find a job learning to be a barrista and keep it for 6 weeks, although she has since given it up.
There has been much care and support in helping her not return to crisis points.
They have helped her with administrative matters eg bus passes, payments etc which can be difficult enough for even the able bodied to manage.
They have encouraged her to reengage with physical exercise and cooking in a varied manner. their youthful energy and empathy.
While she remains often fragile and is not yet fully recovered the Positive Steps concept has helped provide her with joined up care that it would be hard for even parents to provide.
