"Shocking treatment. Worst ever. NHS is better!"

About: London Independent Hospital

I had an anal fistula. When they did a colonoscopy they sedated me but maybe not enough or well as I felt the pain and felt widely conscious. Anyhow I forgave them for this. When I recieved the surgery they did not give me any advice of after care including that I had to keep the stockings on after my surgery. When they gave me these to put on I asked the nurse what it was for. She then said it was to keep it on during the surgery to prevent blood clot. When I came out of the surgery I was still drowsy from my general anaesthetic. They gave me coffee and sandwich and told me I can leave after. During this time I went to the toilet by myself not aware how drowsy I would be. They did not make me aware oe I couldve taken my sister in with me. Anyways I fell over due to that and then realised I wasnt fit to walk yet without someone holding me. When I went to the toilet I notice the put a new pad on me (as I was on my period) but they did not take the sticky label off it so the blood was all over my knickers. They also gave me a gauge pad for the bleeding due to the fistulomy I just had which wasnt stuck on so when I pulled my knickers down it came and fell to the floor. I wasnt gonna put that back on to my delicate area and expose it to bacteria so replaced it with the pad I was wearing. Fair enough if they didnt have the resource to stick the gauge pad on but should they have not informed me? What

wouldve happened if I was in a siuation with no pad and alone or far too drowsy to ask for gauge pad from a nurse? When they are so busy maybe understandably to come and bring me one in a hurry. When I left the nurses adviced me on the meds but no after care or telling me that there was a discharge letter in the meds bag. When I did read the letter the writing was terrible to understand. The surgeon/doctor even said he will come and tell.em about the operation I had and how it went and the after care but he never came. I was in a lot of pain and not fully conscious or aware or wouldve asked the nurse to call the doctor as I had no idea if they did stitches or something else. Next day when I went home I read of different types of surgery and Im worrying now which one I had done and the after care. For example if they bandaged me it says to pull it out the next day. I will call tue doctor on Monday as weekends closed so I cant really find out until then. So disapointed. I have seen many treatments of family and even myself in the past. It has never been like this. And to actually not kmow the surgery you had and if there had been any complications us just out of order. They were made aware of my mental health and anxiety and even for anyone it would help if tjey was to just tell.me it went successfullyI only found out through a friend that I was supposed to keep them on for 24 hours. There was no advice or leaflets on this either till after i was discharged, about reventing blood clot. So after my surgery and under influemce of general anaesthesia and being drowy still, I took them off. Yes was stupid of me but i just didnt know. I also have depression which they were aware of and clearly written on the healty forms too, and with my depression im quite numb and cant think straight. They saw i took the compression socks/tights off yet did not say anything. Strange. Did not tell me that i take these home and wear it for coupkenof days to weeks. My fruend made me aware if it who went through a similar surgery. So scary. Blood clots can cause death and im worried now and cant get through to them as they are closed at the weekends.
