"Condescending receptionist and very long waiting time"

About: Victoria Cross Surgery

(as a service user),

Overall a very poor service. I'm going to list just few points of why I'm giving such bed review.

- Receptionist. I found them typically condescending and rude. They seemed not to get it that people go there typically because they are worried about potential health problems. Whenever I saw them they had a typically bad attitude. More than once I requested specific information or a specific document and all I have been told is I need to wait doctor approval for this. I am talking about test results, medical records and not rocket science. They don't provide timelines because it's up to the doctor, or very typical response is the doctor is very busy this week. So I had to go there many times and check when the document was approved by a doctor. On the other hand, they seems to have the 'power' to select what is urgent and what's not, who is the doctor you should see and when.

- Waiting times. Doctor appointment waiting time are typically 3 weeks or more. Waiting time when calling are very long too (sometimes 20 or more minutes)

-GP. Can't see any sign of GP/patients relationship. It's all about who is available and when. If you are lucky enough to see a doctor it's likely that is the first one available after weeks. The way test results are explained it's absurd. Typically doctor seemed too busy to check my information or simply  didn't know  my history enough. They use very tedious and old fashion chat system to communicate with each other and and that's all they seem to know about they patients.

Final notes on what I would change: 

-hire few younger people as receptionist. They would create a more competitive environment, spend less time chatting and would help older ones to keep up with technology

- doctor can't keep up with too many patients or appears to be too busy. Hire more doctors or refer people to other clinics or make easier to link patients with GP (e.g. avoid receptionist, use skype calls, phone calls, 1 or 2 sessions per week when you can see doctor without booking appointments)
