I normally use the patient transport service when attending the clinic as I have been advised not to drive for at least 7 hours after receiving eye drops. I have also a damaged left eye due to cranial palsy. For other appointments, I usually drive myself.
I have never had any trouble booking transport for this service in the past but when I called this time the operator I got wasn't the best. They were very pleasant but kept continually asking me for more information and repeating I need to know more, I need to know more. I answered all of the questions and said my alternatives were to get 4 buses or a taxi which could not be refunded.
At the end I was given an apology and told they couldn't help me. I've never had this problem before, but now feel I will need to drive myself and take the risk. I think they could have been more appreciative of my situation but they didn't seem to believe me, This experience made me feel I shouldn't have phoned and I have lose confidence. I have never had this problem before. I am also diabetic and have impaired balance.
"I have never had this problem before."
