"This surgery has gone downhill - look at google..."

About: Ashcroft Surgery

This surgery has gone downhill!!!

The staff at the desk are so rude and ill mannered I can't believe the way they talk sometimes. Don't you guys have any respect for others?

The appointment system is so rubbish it's unbelievable. The patient has to go in the morning at 8am to book an appointment, if someone else goes on behalf of the patient they won't book an appointment for him/her! They must be having a laugh. If someone is ill how can you expect them to wake up early and wait around to see if they'll get an appointment if they are lucky. If someone is old or has a baby how will they make it on time to book an appointment. The staff on the desk ask if the patient is present otherwise they don't book appointments!!! Do they need ID as well? Omg can't believe this.

This surgery was the best surgery when Dr Khan was there full time. Now it's extremely demoralising and disrespectful to patients.

The staff on the desk need to go back to school and learn how to respect others.

If Ashcroft surgery doesn't want people to book appointments then they are doing well because it's impossible to see a doctor.

What a rubbish system. The online system is very poor as well.

I guess it's time to find a better surgery where you can atleast book an appointment.

If there was an option to give less than 1 star I would give this surgery minus stars, it's that poor.

They don't even deserve 1 star!

We are sorry to hear of your negative experience with our surgery and can only apologise for your experience.

Our staff are trained to be as polite and understanding as possible, so we are finding it difficult understand why our staff would have been so negative to you just out of the blue.

The only thing we can think of is our zero tolerance at the surgery to any aggressive demands from patients.

Of course, we are not saying you were this, but perhaps you can talk to our Practice Manager to help us get more information and help you.

The Sit and Swap surgery you refer to is admittingly not ideal.

But this system means that there are always appointments available that morning if you wish to see a doctor (and providing your come early enough).

You are then given a rough time of when you will be seen.

You are given the choice of either sitting and waiting or (if you wish) to go away and do the other things you might wish to do and come back just before the appointment time.

We developed this system to help those with busy lives.

Our previous system – you had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment and patients were not happy about this at all.

With this system, whilst not the best, at least offers you the ability to see a doctor sooner – in return, we ask you to wait patiently – which most people would say is reasonable.

You may not know this, but a lot of our patients do like the current system and did not like the previous one.

And yes, there are patients who don’t like our current

Sit and Wait surgery, BUT the numbers who don’t like it are far less than the numbers who did not like the old system.

I hope you can see why we have to go with the numbers.

It is impossible to please all the people all of the time.

Yes, it is sometimes difficult to get an appointment in our surgery with the GP.

But we would like to point out that this is the case everywhere across the UK.

Unfortunately, many patients go straight to the GP for all sorts of things that can be better handled by other professionals – like the local pharmacist or making use of 111.

Also, it’s been all over the news that there is a massive shortage of GPs in the UK – Bradford is no exception.

We are not training enough GPs to cover this increasing demand made by patients – and that is not under our control.

This is why we keep urging patients to write to your local MP to ask them to make the “training of more GPs in the UK” a priority.

Again, we are sorry to hear about your experience.

Please do contact our Practice Manager to talk more.

We don’t like seeing patients unhappy.

And if you would be kind enough, please write to your local MP: type in your postcode here - https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/
