"Best medical service I have ever received in A&E"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Accident and emergency

I visited the A&E yesterday 11.10.2018 in the afternoon with number of complaints, dizziness, abdomen pain, heart palpitations, fatigue. The doctors and nurses were nothing but accommodating, went up and above than what I was expecting given the fact that my symptoms were probably not that urgent. I first spoke to a nurse who sent me to see the GP who turned out to be from the same home country as me, he was very nice and helpful, listened to all my symptoms, then he told me I have to go back to the other waiting room and get several tests done - urine, bloods, ECG, chest xray, ct, uss. I waited no longer than 30 minutes and got called by another nice doctor - who is a senior clinical fellow in EM. She then spoke to me and analysed the information I gave her and she made an educated guess which turned out to be true. I had underactive thyroid which the results showed. She wrote a letter to my GP practice recomending Echo/heart ultradound check and endocrinology consultation, also after my request she let me have a copy of the letter due to her feeling I am very anxious and thought that would put my mind at ease.. she said normally you need to put a request with tge hospital and wait 28 days to get that information/summary. Her ( she did the blood samples herself as well) and the nurses who did all the scans and tests were really nice and I am very grateful for their service and wish them all the best. I hope they get the recognition they deserve and the respect. I came under the impression that perhaps some people who visit A&E are not very nice to them, the staff were very apologetic for minor things, which is nice and polite I suppose, but I think people should have a lot more respect for the doctors, nurses and hospital staff.. they work in such stressful environment daily and do long shifts and see all sorts of scary things. Please take care A&E staff.

Thank you
