"Always at the Ironstone centre"

About: The Birches Medical Practice

Why is it I can never get an appointment in Ashby? Do you have doctors at the Ashby clinic?

I’m always sent to the Ironstone centre which isn’t always an issue but it depends why I’m seeing the doctor. Ongoing and increasing hip pain means the short drive to Ashby where I live is much more preferable to driving into town.

Firstly, I am very sorry that you have felt the need to post this comment, your frustration is however our frustration. Due to the limited number of clinician hours that we have available it has become impossible to always have a GP at both sites simultaneously, this is something that is very regretable to us. Because the demand for appointments is much greater at our Ironstone practice the decision was made to put the GP there. We did however purposely leave Dr Baig at Ashby to work regularly on Monday and Tuesday and Dr Afsar to cover friday mornings. All other times are covered by our advanced nurse practitioner.

Please accept my apologies that the service being provided is not as it used to be, sadly this is the situation for many practices in the UK.

I would be very happy to discuss this further with you and possibly try to work out a solution to your individual needs. I can be contacted on 01724 292022.

Best Wishes,

Darryl Southern

Practice Manager
