"Womens Health"

I think that if you suffer from women's health problems then you are at the bottom of the nhs priority list. I have had constant cystitis, abdominal and pelvic pains and have been feeling generally awful since the end of Feb 2011.

After 4 months of going back and forth to my GP having tests and receiving medication that wasn't working and still no diagnosis I was admitted to hospital for an emergency laparoscopy to remove a 6.8cm cyst from my right ovary although the radiographer said it was on the left which caused some confusion.

Since recovering from my operation none of the symptoms have gone. I am referred between gynecologists and urologists waiting at least 6 weeks for every appointment with a doctor who tells me they don't know what to do and then they make we wait 6 weeks to see another that does the same. I have now been suffering with this for 11 months.

I am a postgraduate student desperately trying to get on with my course and my life but the constant pain and discomfort makes it nearly impossible and I don't feel as though I am getting any support from anywhere.

I know several women who have had similar problems and they have all taken a year out of their jobs/courses/lives to resolve their problem because the nhs takes so long to make the tiniest bit of progress. It should not have to be this way! I feel like my only option now is to go private, I can not afford to so I will probably have to take out a loan.
