"This practice has been at times a nightmare"

About: Severnbank Surgery

(as a service user),

I can now send this as I have moved surgeries and no longer have to fear reprisal in further bad care. From the receptionists to most of the GPS, my experience of this surgery has been a nightmare and at times clinically dangerous.  Examples I have personally experienced:

1. Staff were sent instructions from very senior hospital consultant which were ignored until I chased them, and then I was asked to justify the instructions.

2. My important follow-up tests not being done, instead doctor decided to only do a pre-diabetes screen, get all irritated about results and tell me it was irrelevant I was on very high dose steroids at the time.

3. The tests I needed in (2) were requested and refused for over two years despite string family history of pernicious anaemia. By the time they agreed to them,  there was permanent nerve damage.

4. Receptionists were routinely rude to me on the phone - for example website gives wrong number for emergency appointments (giving general number) but as a patient I was always verbally told off for ringing the given number and often told I can't have an appointment. Receptionist understanding of my condition and reasonable adjustment very poor - for example, I was told off for processing information too slowly whilst in middle of episode of terrible brain fog which I'd informed her of at start of call.

5. Doctors didn't know referral pathways - having been told I needed 1-2-1 psychotherapeutic support, I was referred to Let's Talk who only do CBT.

6. Often told to bring urine sample by X time, arrive with it to be told collection had already gone, repeat process next day delaying treatment of severe UTI which resulted in A&E treatment.

7. Doctor telling me I was wasting their time for getting appointment to check chest infection symptoms when I was advised by hospital after septicaemia and Neurologist said to always get symptoms of infection checked if lasting more than five days because of speed infections take hold in my case.

There are more but that's probably enough...  Only saving graces - one Nurse and the triage doctors (when you get receptionists to actually put you on list).
