"Inadequate tableware -older patients struggling to eat"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

(as a relative),

My Mother has been in the Royal Oldham Hospital over the past months. My comments are regarding the meals, not the quality as that was good. The wards she was on had predominantly older patients. My Mother and other patients seemed to struggle to eat their meals,   the plates weren't always placed near to them, food was given on large plates, also I feel it would  be easier for them to eat if they were given a teaspoon rather than knife and forks, my Mother's hands shake.   (There was a shortage of teaspoons on all the wards every mealtime).   If I  hadn't  been there to feed my Mother at meal times she wouldn't have eaten.
